BC Road Test FAQ
Do I need any experience to start?
No. Many of our students have never driven before. We start with the basics and move at your pace.
Do I need a learner's licence before lessons?
Yes. You need a valid BC learner’s licence (Class 7L), or a licence that lets you drive in BC, before taking lessons on the road. You get it by passing ICBC’s knowledge test.
What is the Class 7 road test?
It’s your first BC Road Test. Passing it gets you your Novice (N) licence. Our lessons and road test packages prepare you for it.
Is there still a Class 5 road test for N drivers?
ICBC is changing the rules. Starting October 19, 2026, Class 7 (N) drivers with a safe driving record no longer take a second road test. ICBC reviews your driving record instead (a Driving Record Assessment). See icbc.com for the latest details and your eligibility.
I have a licence from another country. What do I need?
It depends on your country and driving experience. Some drivers can exchange their licence; others must take ICBC’s knowledge and/or road test. If you need a road test, our road test and Class 5 packages help you learn BC rules and what examiners expect.
Can I use your car for my road test?
Yes. Our road test packages include our car, and you can also rent our car for the test on its own.
How many lessons will I need?
It depends on your experience. Beginners often choose our 10-session (15-hour) package; experienced drivers may only need a few sessions. Call (778) 885-5062 and we’ll recommend a plan.
Are prices including tax?
All prices are + GST.
We are registered as a driving school under the Motor Vehicle Act.
